In 2004, the Orange company selected Cegelec for the supply and fitting of telecommunication pylons. Cegelec also performs servicing and renovation work on public lighting systems in the capital (roads, tunnels, etc.), representing about 170 kilometres of illuminated streets and 8000 lighting installations in the urban community of Yaoundé.
Cegelec was also selected by Sonel (the national electricity company, now called AES Sonel) to carry out densification work on the electrical systems of the two principal cities of Cameroon, namely Douala and Yaoundé.
In 2004, in the face of strong international competition, Cegelec won the contract for the modernisation of technical installations (plumbing, HVAC and fire prevention) at the head offices of SNI (national investment company) in Yaoundé. In addition, Cegelec took charge, on behalf of SNEC (the national water company) of the renovation of pumping stations and the repair of water conduits.
In 2003, Cegelec took charge of the electrical installations in two buildings belonging to Minotéries d'Afrique (flour mills).
Other contracts which are indicative of the expertise of our people include the oil sector. Cegelec is involved in the areas of electrical maintenance and instrumentation in oil fields for Total and Perenco, and in the tertiary sector, Cegelec contributes to the upgrading to standard of HVAC installations in various buildings. Our customer Cotco (a subsidiary of Exxon Mobil) contracted to us the general maintenance of its installations.
Our Cameroon teams are venturing more and more beyond their borders, and are acting as a launch pad for the development of Cegelec in the Gulf of Guinea. Cegelec Cameroun was involved in the project for digitisation of the Dakar refinery in Senegal, and the Malabo refinery in Equatorial Guinea.
